MANILA, Philippines—A still unidentified man was killed when he was shot to the head Monday afternoon in Barangay (village) Sto. Domingo in Quezon City, Radyo Inquirer reported Monday.

The victim was rushed to the Capitol Medical Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Barangay Sto. Domingo is the only area of immediate concern in Quezon City, based on the Philippine National Police list.

More than 800,000 candidates are vying for chairmanships and other posts in urban and rural villages, where violence and fraud are as much a concern as they are in elections for higher office.

More than 54 million Filipinos have registered to cast their votes.
