Fire destroys warehouses
Some P30 million worth of property went up in smoke after a fire gutted several warehouses in Pasay City Thursday.
FO1 Randy Llonoso of the Pasay Fire Department said the blaze started at 2:56 a.m. in Closeup Kidswear, a garments warehouse located in the New Wealth Industrial Estate compound on Armstrong Road, Merville. The compound was reportedly owned by Ricardo Chiu.
Although it was drizzling, strong winds fanned the flames, making it hard for firemen to battle the blaze. As a result, the fire spread to the adjacent Ambica Industrial Trading which housed medicines and chemicals, the garments warehouse of Bhagyashri Manufacturing and the stockroom of Alpha Omega Impex Philippines Corp. which contained electronics and other merchandise. A delivery truck was also destroyed during the blaze which reached Task Force Alpha before it was put out at 8:49 a.m. Tina G. Santos
