1 killed, 1 hurt in Ermita shooting

A pedicab driver was killed while another was wounded in a shooting incident in barangay Ermita, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Alexander Tura was shot several times in front of his wife and eight-year-old son. He died in the hospital, SPO1 Ruth Violango said.

Tura’s wife, Liezel, and their son were unhurt.

Raymond Morales, 29, got hit by a stray bullet. He was wounded in the knee and toe.

Liezel knew the men who shot her husband. They fled after the incident.

Police found seven empty .45 caliber shells in the crime scene.

Liezel reportedly told investigators that a few days ago, her husband was hired by the three gunmen to kill someone, although it was not clear who the supposed target was.

“Gisugo kuno na ang biktima nga naay patirahan nga wa kuno kabayad,” Violango said. (The gunmen had asked the victim to kill someone who was not able to pay.)

The investigator believe that the shooting has something to do with the illegal drug trade in Ermita. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
