JIL marks 35th anniversary with ‘Revolution of Righteousness’

MANILA, Philippines – Thousands of followers of the Jesus is Lord Movement gathered in Manila Friday for a “Revolution of Righteousness” to mark the religious group’s 35th anniversary.

Participants gathered at the Luneta Park as early as 1 p.m., a few hours before the program that started at 4 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) that was monitoring traffic in the area.

In a separate phone interview, Police Superintendent Orlando Mirando, Manila Police District-Station 5 chief, said the crowd was initially estimated at 20,000.

He said over 200 police officers were deployed to maintain peace and order.

The celebration slowed down traffic on thd stretch of Roxas Boulevard to Quirino; United Nations Avenue; Padre Burgos; Bonifacio Drive; Finance Road, and T.M. Kalaw Street.
