Second slay suspect caught inside salon

A barber was arrested 6 p.m. Tuesday  as one of the suspected  gunman in the 2009 ambush of  Cebu City assistant prosecutor Patrick Brian Osorio.

Lyndon Hurandoy, 28,  was arrested   at at his workplace in a salon in barangay Guba, Cebu City by police and agents of the  Criminal Investigation Division Group (CIDG).

Hurandoy is a resident of barangay Maghaway, Talisay City.

“His looks have changed,” saidChief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of the intelligence branch of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Police did not say what was the motive for the liquidation of Osorio.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hurandoy by Cebu City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Silvestre Maamo a few days after the murder of  Osorio on Jan. 6, 2009.

Osorio was ambushed by two motorcycle-gunmen along Gochan St., Mambaling, Cebu City  at 2:45 p.m. as he was driving his Toyota Revo van on his way to pick up his children from school.

The first suspect identified as Allan Senogat was arrested in July 2009.

Police said Senogat was the  driver of the get-away motorcycle while Hurandoy was positiviely identified by witnesses as the gunman.

In  an interview, Hurandoy denied the allegation.

He told reporters he was only a driver of the getaway vehicle and that  it was his companion, Allan Sinogat who gunned  down Osorio.

Sinogat was previously arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm in a raid at his home a few months after Osorio’s killing.

He is still in jail.

Hurandoy said he was promised P5,000 as payment by Sinogat for the hit  but that he only received P200.

According to police,  Hurandoy   was heard bragging to friends in a drinking session that he had killed somebody.

Santander said the barber moved away to  Barili town after the killing, then headed to Bohol province, then to barangay Guadalupe and barangay Guba, Cebu City.

He said Hurandoy married his live-in partner in Guba.

Santander said police will check whether  Hurandoy is involved in other murder cases in Metro Cebu.
