Servania’s foe arrives today

Former WBA Super flyweight champion Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion of Panama will arrive here in Cebu City today to face unbeaten Filipino WBO Asia Pacific Super bantamweight champion Genesis ‘Azukal’ Servania in the main event of Pinoy Pride XXII: The Revenge on Oct. 26 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

According to information from ALA Promotions, Concepcion will be accompanied by his manager and trainer Rigoberto Garibaldi and will stay in the official venue of the boxing event. They will be featured in a series of pre-fight media events.

Concepcion stole the spotlight of boxing here in the country after he defeated ALA Boxing Gym’s AJ “Bazooka”Banal last 2008 at the Cebu Coliseum to win the WBA Superflyweight title.

For the 22-year-old Servania who is a Bacolod City native, his win over Concepcion will serve as sweet revenge for his teammate Banal. Servania sports a record of 22 wins with eight coming by knockouts.

Servania and Concepcion will battle for the WBO Intercontinental Super bantamweight title.

Concepcion owns an intimidating record of 18 wins, with eight knockouts and six losses and one draw. The 31-year-old veteran has also fought world champions Jorge Arce, Fernando Montiel and our very own Nonito Donaire.

Servania on the other hand, had already won over veteran Mexican boxers namely Genaro Garcia (38-8, 23KOs) and Gerson Guerrero (34-9, 26KOs).
