5.5-magnitude tremor hits Bohol anew as residents brace for more aftershocks
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute on Volcanology and Seismology Thursday recorded a 5.5-magnitude earthquake in Tagbilaran City in Bohol, the strongest since the 7.2-magnitude tremor last Tuesday that killed more than 100 people.
Phivolcs said in its earthquake bulletin that the tremor was recorded 18 kilometers northwest of Tagbilaran City.
There have been 1,277 aftershocks recorded since Tuesday but only 26 of these have been felt.
Meanwhile, death toll from the quake rose to 158 early Thursday.
Police reports in Bohol said 146 were killed from the quake.
