Transport group holds strike in Albay over oil price hikes; classes suspended

MANILA, Philippines – A militant transport group staged a province-wide  strike in Albay Wednesday to condemn the  continuous rise in oil prices, a report on 990AM said .

The protest by the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) prompted the Department of Education to suspend classes, the report said, quoting DepEd Region 5 (Bicol).

The DepEd also authorized its other regional offices to suspend classes if similar protests were to be held in their areas of jurisdiction.
