The Taguig City government has created a task force to clear C5 Road of illegal structures which are mostly put up by street vendors and are often a cause of traffic congestion.

Calling them a “nuisance to the community,” Mayor Lani Cayetano noted that the number of makeshift stalls had increased in recent months to the point that pedestrians were already being forced to walk on the actual road instead of the sidewalk.

“We want to ensure that sidewalks are utilized by the public for its intended purpose. Also, we want to address traffic problems while improving the appearance of Taguig,” Cayetano said.

In July, the Taguig and the Makati City police, as well teams from the Southern Police District (SPD) headquarters, also formed an interagency task force to address rising incidents of robbery or snatching on C5, where the suspects included minors. Jaymee Gamil
