Aussie wins in Panglao triathlon

MICHAEL James Murphy of Australia emerged on top in the Defy 123 Triathlon last Sunday in Panglao Island, Bohol.

Murphy took advantage of his prowess in cycling to win the race as he crossed the finish line at the Bellevue Beach Resort with a total time of four hours, 19 minutes and 51 seconds.

Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines pro division fifth placer Monica Torres dominated the distaff side with a time of four hours, 47 minutes and 34 seconds.

August Benedicto, the second placer in the Filipino Elite division of the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines, claimed second place behind Murphy with a time of four hours, 27 minutes and 28 seconds while Paul Jumamil (04:31:15) rounded off the top three men’s open division finishers.

Runners up in the women’s side were Rhodora Ellis (05:14:01) and Regis Tangan (05:15:16), respectively.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
