/ 08:59 PM October 14, 2013

MANILA, Philippines – The evangelical mission by the Iglesia ni Cristo on Monday in Manila was declared “generally peaceful” by the police.

National Capital Region Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo said that no major untoward incident happened in the day-long activity of the INC.

Police originally estimated that there were over 700,000 persons who participated in the event at its peak at 12 noon. However, Garbo said they made some corrections on their assessment on the ground and estimated only about 450,000 participants during its peak.

Police Chief Superintendent Isagani Genabe of the Manila Police District said that except for the commotion during the distribution of goods, the event was “successful.”

Roads were opened back to traffic at around 6:30 p.m.
