MILO MARATHON Cebu Leg 21k champion Mary Joy Tabal and the Kenyans shared the spotlight in the first-ever Gaisano Country Mall 20th Anniversary Run yesterday.
Tabal crossed the finish line at the mall’s open grounds in 59 minutes and 35 seconds, easily winning the 15-kilometer women’s title.
Her closest pursuer was Dumaguete City’s Mereeis Ramirez, who was nine minutes behind with a time of one hour, eight minutes and 36 seconds. Cebuana Joeyry Lee finished third with a time of one hour, nine minutes and 26 seconds.
Kenyans Isaac Simat, Abraham Missous, Douglas Mwiti and James Mebei, meanwhile, captured the top four spots, respectively, in the men’s 15k.
Simat clocked 51 minutes and four seconds to top the race while Missous finished in 52:10 for second place. Mwiti clocked 54:14 while Mebei finished in 56:53 for third and fourth places, respectively.
Rafael Picos (34:12) topped the 10k men’s race while Lovely Andrin (44:46) ruled the distaff side.
Cherry Andrin finished first in the women’s 5k race with a time of 20:21 while John Daryl Manos (16:30) placed first in men’s side.
