Batang Pinoy softball resumes tomorrow
ACTION in the Philippine Sports Commission’s Batang Pinoy regional eliminations in softball resumes tomorrow in Iba, Zambales.
The first leg of this tournament was held last Aug. 27 to 31 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte with the Davao City batters emerging as the rulers after defeating eventual second place finisher, General Santos and third placer South Cotabato.
Davao City and General Santos gained a seat each for the National Championships slated Nov. 19 to 23 in Bacolod City after their respective 1-2 finish.
Team Cebu City, for its part, advanced to the National Championships after finishing second behind eventual champion Zarraga-Iloilo in the recent Batang Pinoy 2013 Visayas leg held in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Team Cebu City, spearheaded by Aurea Ranises and Flora Mae dela Cerna, trounced hosts Maasin City, 27-1, in their initial outing before bowing to Zarraga-Iloilo, 0-9, in the championship match to settle for the silver in the sportsfest held in cooperation with the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), the Department of Education, Department of Interior & Local Government, and the League of Cities, Municipalities and Barangays. /Correspondent JADE S.
