MANILA, Philippines—Expect long queues and train delays in the Light Rail Transit (LRT) line 1 today, said an LRT Authority (LRTA) official Thursday.

LRTA spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the problem was caused by “power system tripping”  which occurred at the LRT Line 1.

He said on Twitter that out of 28 trains, only 17 were operational.

On Wednesday night, fire broke out between the United Nations Avenue and Pedro Gil stations after some portions of the trains’ high voltage wire cables sparked.

But the fire was quickly put out by the authorities.

Cabrera told INQUIRER.net that repair work in the Line 1 was currently ongoing. He said they were still waiting for the advise of line technicians.

The LRT Line 1 runs from Baclaran, Parañaque City to Balintawak, Quezon City.
