MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are almost a hundred percent sure that what’s inside the bag that landed at the roof of a passenger bus is not an explosive device, a police official said.
In a radio interview, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca, Pasay police chief, said that based on the X-ray result of the bag, a battery and a wire were seen and later recovered, but added that there weren’t any triggering device found.
“Sa bomba dapat kumpleto [In a bomb all parts should be present],” he said, and noted that the battery found was just like the usual AA battery.
“Ninety percent not a bomb,” Llorca said.
He said the bag will be taken to an open area and will be blasted in place.
The statement was made roughly four hours since the incident was reported to authorities.
Llorca earlier said incidents which concern explosives should be dealt with patience.
“Kailangan huwag kang mainip. Lahat ng option pinag-aaralan kasi bomba yan e [We shouldn’t be impatient. We need to study all options],” Llorca said.
