Man grabs policeman’s gun, shot

A 33-year-old man landed in the hospital after he was shot for attempting to grab the service pistol of the policeman who was serving a warrant of arrest against him for two counts of rape.

Wounded Sunday afternoon in barangay Babag 2, Lapu-Lapu City was Rey Inihao, a resident of Sitio Sudtunggan barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

He was taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for a gunshot wound in his left knee after police shot him during a brief scuffle when he tried to grab the policeman’s gun.

PO2 Artchel Tero approached Inihao to serve the warrant of arrest for two counts of rape issued by Judge Wilfredo Navarro of Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court Branch 53. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

Inihao resisted and grabbed the gun from Tero’s gun belt. Tero overpowered him and shot him in the knee. Tero then took him to the hospital for medical treatment.
