Police sent 2 platoons
TWO platoons of almost 200 policemen were sent to Aloguinsan as early as 4 a.m. to prevent any commotion during the fencing of the Gantuangco property, said Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, provincial director of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).
Barangay Bon-Bon is about two kilometers away from the Aloguinsan police station.
He said two platoons from the Regional Public Safety Management Batallion (RPSMB) were sent in anticipation of reports that 250 people would hold a rally and that some would be armed with Indian pana and handguns.
Comendador said the police won’t intervene unless the need arises and there is a court order, as was the case yesterday.
With the issuance of the court order by Toledo City RTC Judge Hermes Montero of Branch 59 in Toledo City, Comendador said police planned early to reinforce the Aloguinsan police station, which has only 20 policemen.
Comendador said police secured some residences near the disputed lot after receiving reports that protestors would hide guns in the houses.
