Anti-pork protesters who converged at Makati fire station arrive at Ayala Triangle

MANILA, Philippines – Anti-pork protesters who gathered in front of the Makati Central Fire station earlier on Friday arrived at the Ayala Triangle to join others for the second Million People March.

Makati City Police estimated the initial number of participants  to be at around 500. They started to arrive in the area around 2 p.m.

The rallyists are composed of labor groups such as Nagkaisa, Allicance of Progressive Labor Centro,Partido ng Manggagawa, Bukluran ng Mangagawang Pilipino, Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, PS Link, National Confederation of Labor, among others.

The groups carried placards and streamers which called for the abolition of the pork barrel system. Some were also seen wearing pig masks.

While marching along the eastbound lane of Ayala Avenue, the protesters were shouting “abolish pork barrel”.
