THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Spiking Jaguars showed they have indeed learned the lessons of their five-set loss to the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) earlier in this tournament as they exacted revenge upon the Spiking Panthers with a clinical four-set win in the semifinal round of the 2013 Cesafi volleyball tournament last Wednesday night at the Aznar Coliseum.

Strengthened by the five-set defeat at the hands of USP-F during the last day of the elimination round, the Jaguars made sure head coach Grace Antigua would receive a special birthday present as they wrapped up their second win in as many games in this single round-robin semis with a 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 victory.

The win put USJ-R within a breath away of clinching a seat in the championship game while USP-F’s campaign suffered a hitch as the loss dropped the Panthers to 1-1 (win-loss).

Beaten by USP-F in three sets last week, USJ-R vowed to play better and showed that in foiling USC, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
