A specially-designed medal blessed by Pedro Calungsod rector Monsignor Vicente Tupas Jr. will be given out to the finishers of the first-ever “St. Pedro Calungsod First Anniversary Run” on Oct. 13 at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
Organized by the Saint Pedro Calungsod Chapel administration, the run is one of the highlights of the first fiesta celebration of the Cebuano saint after he was canonized in Rome, Italy last year. It will feature 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k distances.
Joel Juarez is the overall race director while Tony Galon of the Cebu Ultra Runners Club (CUC) will handle the technical side of the run. The race will have “A walk of faith, a run for truth” as theme.
Around 2,000 runners are expected to join the run which will hand out cash prizes to the top three placers in the 10k and 5k distances.
Aside from the run, the fiesta celebration will also have a concert, a poster-making contest featuring the altar boys and servers of the various parishes here in Cebu, novena masses and a medical mission.
Proceeds of the running event will be used to fund the scholarships of deserving altar boys and servers.
Registration fee is P350 for the 10k, P300 for the 5k and P250 for the 3k. Registration is at the Saint Pedro Calungsod chapel office and at the RUNNR in Ayala Center Cebu. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
