Cebu Dynamo Football Festival set
FORTY-FIVE teams, mostly from southern Cebu, will be competing in the 2013 Dynamo Cup Football Festival this Sunday at the East Visayan Academy in Talisay City.
The Dynamo Football Club is holding this inaugural tournament to showcase the best teams from the southern part of Cebu. It will feature five age categories using a seven-a-side format.
“We want to bring the football fever in the southern part of Cebu because this part of the island gets less exposure to tournaments and we’ve heard that this part of Cebu has a lot of talent,” said Dynamo FC president Edwin Leaño during yesterday’s launching at the Vienna Kaffeehaus. Joining him were Dynamo FC organizers Neil Yunam and Carl Baring and coaches Dennis Peñalosa, Dino Musni and Ian Montesclaros.
The one-day tournament is also part of Dynamo Football Club’s outreach program to the kids of Talisay City, particularly the Talisay Razkals of football advocate coach Rosner Bollozos.
Bollozos developed the Razkals into a formidable team despite very limited resources. For Dynamo FC, Bollozos deserves help from them for giving Talisay City’s children a chance to learn football for free.
The proceeds of the tournament will be used to purchase football equipment for coach Bollozos and the East Visayan Academy. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
