The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has wrapped up its investigation into the killing of advertising executive Kristelle “Kae” Davantes with the deactivation of the special task group spearheading the probe.
Chief Supt. Christopher Laxa, NCRPO deputy director for operations, said that members of Task Force Kae held their last case conference on Monday to conduct a final review of the evidence to be presented in court against five of the six suspects in police custody.
“We have deactivated the task force since the cases have been filed and five are already in our custody,” Laxa said.
He added that from now on, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group would be in charge of the case.
“We would like to assure the family of the victim that the police would be open to amending the information filed in court [should there be] developments in the case,” Laxa said.
Earlier, Davantes’ uncle Vince expressed his apprehension over what he said were discrepancies between the suspects’ statements and the evidence found by investigators as he pleaded with the police “to dig deeper into the case.”
While he said he was convinced that those arrested did take part in the abduction and killing of his niece, he asked the police to look into the possibility that there could be a seventh or eighth person who acted as the mastermind.
