Gov’t earmarks P5-M assistance to ‘Mina’ victims
MANILA, Philippines — The government will release an estimated P5 million worth of assistance to the victims of Tropical Storm “Mina”, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.
The amount, P4,909,282, will be given to Regions I (Ilocos), II (Cagayan), and VI from the combined resources of the NDRRMC, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other local government units, the NDRRMC said.
Meanwhile, the cost of the damages wrought by Mina to agriculture and infrastructure is P940,272,827.47 and P15,550,000 respectively.
Eight bridges from Regions I, II and the National Capital Region remain impassable as of posting time due to flood and landslides, the report said.
