Company driver gunned down

A COMPANY driver was shot dead by a gardener after they argued in barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.

Police identified the fatality as Vicente Rivera, 45. The victim, a native of Bulacan, was a namesake of a former congressman and transportation secretary during the Estrada administration. Rivera was a stay-in driver of the New Culion Builders.

Rivera and the suspect Jun Ortiz, 22, were having drinks Thursday afternoon when they had a heated argument.

The suspect was overheard telling the victim “Gi-ilad nimo akong mama (you fooled my mother),” before a shot rang out.

Rivera was brought to the North General Hospital where he was declared dead. Ortiz fled./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
