3 hurt in grenade blast during dance in ComVal
TAGUM CITY, Philippines — Three persons were hurt when a grenade exploded during a village benefit dance in Laak town, Compostela Valley Province Saturday night, police on Monday said.
Superintendent Jose Carumba, Southern Mindanao police regional office spokesman, identified those wounded as Felimon Saiden, 46, a resident of Tagum City; and Eli Piyal, 19, and Jovert Visagas, 16,
both of Kapatagan village, Laak.
Carumba said the incident happened during a dance in Purok 2 of the village past 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
“The grenade was lobbed by an unidentified suspect,” Carumba told the Philippine Daily Inquirer, adding police recovered grenade fragments at the blast site.
He said the victims suffered minor shrapnel wounds and were now undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
