/ 06:27 AM September 27, 2013

A KTV bar in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City was ordered closed by the city government’s legal office for operating without permit.

Sunrise Angels KTV Bar was served the closure order last week through Frank Gillena, the Community Affairs Officer.

Aside from operating without renewing the necessary papers, the closure is also effected for violating the city’s Anti-Trafficking Ordinance.

He said that the KTV Bar’s management’s claim that they are operating with a permit is misleading just because they have paid taxes and fees. Issuance of a permit, Tianero said, means the establishment has fulfilled certain conditions, including taking into consideration the “law, public order, morals and the safety of the people.”

FEATURED STORIES

The KTV Bar was raided by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in coordination with local police and International Justice Mission (IJM) last month. Authorities rescued minors who were employed as entertainers.

The owner is facing a case for violation of Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Human Trafficking in Persons Act while the rescued women are still in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
