Slay victim’s sons to arrive today, claim remains
EVEN in death, the children of slain Rubirosa Tenchavez will keep their promise to bring her abroad.
A female relative of Rubirosa who requested anonymity told Cebu Daily News that the victim’s cremated remains will be brought by her sons, who work as nurses in Singapore and New Zealand.
Michael and Mark Tenchavez were scheduled to arrive in Cebu City today.
A private funeral wake was held for Rubirosa Tenchavez at the St. Peter Memorial Chapel in New Imus Road, Cebu City.
A Cebu Daily News team visited the wake at past 4 p.m yesterday.
The female relative said the family isn’t ready to talk about what happened.
Inside the chapel, a photo frame of Rubirosa could be seen placed on top of a table beside the urn.
Officials from St. Peter memorial Chapel confirmed that Rubirosa was cremated last Saturday afternoon.
The 53-year-old Rubirosa is the third among a brood of four.
Her sisters include the eldest Bicbic Mayubay, Evelyn Tenchavez as the second eldest and Vivian Batayola as the youngest.
CDN was told by Vivian’s colleagues that she was on leave since last Friday morning.
Rubirosa’s 25-year-old son Christian “Lucky” Dalangin admitted to killing her when he was brought to the Palace of Justice last Saturday. Lucky, Rubirosa’s youngest, was charged with parricide.
Dalanguin admitted that he’s been using illegal drugs for several years.
He was committed to the Cebu City Jail where he will be detained while waiting for the court’s verdict.
If convicted, Dalangin faces a penalty of reclusion perpetua or 20 to 40 years of imprisonment. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
