MCWD inks supply pact for Mandaue
THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) signed an agreement with a supplier to distribute 5,000 cubic meters of water to 4,000 households in Mandaue City.
The 10-year agreement signed yesterday between the MCWD and Abejo Waters Corp. (AWC) will take effect in September next year.
AWC submitted an unsolicited offer to supply water to MCWD at P14.78 per cubic meter. It was published for one month but AWC remained the sole bidder for the project.
The supply will augment the water district’s existing distribution line along ML Quezon Ave. in Mandaue City and will supply water to newly-laid lines in Sitio Tingob.
It is also expected to improve the water supply in Barangays Cabancalan, Maguikay, Bakilid, Casuntingan in Mandaue City.
MCWD supplies 5,000 cubic meters of water daily in the area but some consumers experience low water pressure during peak hours.

With the infusion of the 5,000 cubic meters, we can already provide them (barangays) water with sufficient pressure,” Engr.
