Sato captures crown in AVGCC monthly golf

JUFIL Sato scored 51 points from a three-over-par performance to clinch the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC) Class A September Monthly Medal title at the par 72 AVGCC golf course in Pardo, Cebu City.

Sato was one-under-par in the front nine for a good 28 points in the Molave system and scored 23 at the back to win the title.

Runner-up honors went to Aris Mata (45 pts) and Mario Cugtas (43 pts).

The Class B trophy went to Rey Dira with his four-over-par 50 points. Second place went to Alan Larot (42 pt) Masahisa Kawakami (40 pts). Dira also earned the Nearest to the Pin award with his shot that landed five feet from hole No. 6

Jojo Ong had 35 points to win the Class C crown. Mar Selma (34 pts) and Jimmy Tee (33 pts) completed the Class C winners.

The Seniors class was just as exciting as the Class C division as Club Director Vicente Go topped the division with a five-over-par 49 points, just a point over Chandran Rama who had a 48. Club Treasurer Ramon Sebastian came in third via countback with 47 points over Razy Razon.

The 70 years old and above Superseniors title went to Romy Hipolito with his 39, followed by David Villono’s 38 while Vic Arnuco bagged the Guest division title with 49 points followed by Ted Almario (41 pts).

On the distaff side, Nam Young Ae bagged the title with 37 points while Tessa Ozoa had 31. The most accurate drive award went to Hansel Ong. /Correspondent Lou Coloyan
