MANILA, Philippines – The congressional bicameral conference committee on Tuesday approved a measure for the postponement of this year’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to a date between October 28, 2014 and February 23, 2015.

“We are signing already the bicameral version and yes we will bring it to the floor because this has been certified as urgent,” Senator Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos Jr. told reporters.

The measure, after it was approved in the bicameral committee, will now then be returned to the House and the Senate for ratification before it is transmitted to President Benigno Aquino III for signature.

Marcos said the bicameral committee agreed that no incumbent SK officials would be allowed to continue to hold office once the election is cancelled this year.
