/ 10:58 AM September 24, 2013

Beginning October, shoppers will see some senior citizens working at SM Supermalls nationwide.

The Senior Citizens Community Service Program of SM Cares aims to empower and extend sustainable assistance to the senior citizens and promote productive use of their skills and abilities.

The program will offer casual and part-time work assignments to senior citizens. Those hired will be posted as mall entrance greeters, female restroom assistants, foodcourt table usherettes, taxi passenger assistants and cinema ticket booth guides in SM City Cebu and SM City Consolacion.

They are required to report for work for only two days a week, and four hours a day for up to six months with hourly rate allowance mandated by law plus 15 percent premium.

The program is also in celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week.
