Fetus found in mall

HOUSEKEEPING personnel in a mall in Mandaue City found a dead fetus estimated to be six months old inside a comfort room for women.

Benjie Bacat was collecting garbage from waste receptacles inside the women’s comfort room of J-Centre Mall in Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City Saturday afternoon when he noticed blood on a yellow plastic bag.

Bacat decide to open the plastic bag and was surprised to find a fetus inside it. He called a security guard who then informed the police.

Police turned over the fetus to representatives of Rolling Hills Funeral Homes for burial.

Investigators believe that the mother aborted the fetus inside the comfort room.

Police and the mall’s management are still conducting further investigation to determine who is responsible for the crime.  /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
