MANILA, Philippines – More than 200 families were evacuated from three villages in Quezon City on Monday due to heavy flooding, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.
Roughly 200 families from Barangay (village) Roxas District, five from Barangay Masambong and another five families from Barangay Doña Imelda were transferred to evacuation areas, according to the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management office.
The report said flood waters in Roxas District rose as high as a two-storey building while the other two villages experienced waist- to chest-deep floods.
A command center was set-up in front of the Quezon City Hall for the quick dispatch of rescue personnel and equipment as rescue operations continue.
Metro Manila and nearby provinces have been experiencing torrential rains since Sunday because of the southwest monsoon.
