Woman killed by mortar shell in Zamboanga
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—A woman was killed when a mortar shell hit her house in the Tetuan district around 7:50 a.m. Saturday.
The victim was identified by police as Norma Lladores.
Inspector Elmer Acuna, Tetuan police station chief, said Lladores was one of the residents who regularly cooked meals for displaced families and donating packed meals for policemen.
A radio report said the woman was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Tetuan is about two kilometers away from Barangay Santa Catalina, where government troops and Moro National Liberation Front guerrillas identified with MNLF founder Nur Misuari have been fighting for the past 13 days.
