PCGS, UV rule BTC 3-on-3 playoffs

PHILIPPINE Christian Gospel School (PCGS) played with class in two divisions while the University of the Visayas (UV) dominated the 16-Under class yesterday to reac h the final of the 3rd BTC Cup yesterday.

St. Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS) also maximized its twice-to-beat advantage at 14-Under while the two teams of St. Paul Learning Center (SPLC) did the same at 10-Under.

12-UNDER

Meanwhile, Sotero B. Cabahug (SBC) Forum for Literacy and Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC) shocked the Baby Lancers at 12-Under and will meet today for the title in the 3-on-3 series presented by Thirsty and Dimsum Break.

UV first bowed to SBC Forum, 3-4, after losing pointman Lyder Kent Canieso on foul, then to CIC Blue Angels, 8-11, in overtime.

16-UNDER

The Baby Lancers though swept all their three quarterfinal games at 16–Under with Shawn Vincent Opolentisima scoring a total of 19 points.

Opolentisima scored four points in UV’s 9-5 win over San Isidro Parish School (SIPS) and six marks in UV’s 10-6 win over PCGS. He also had three points in their 7-6 squeaker past Centre for International Education (CIE).

PCGS beat CIE, 6-4 and SIPS, 10-8 in overtime to earn the right to face UV.

In a rematch during the semi-finals with the Blue Lions earning the twice-to-beat advantage, they overwhelmed the Tamaraws, 10-6.

14-UNDER

In the 14-Under, SACS and PCGS beat their crossover challengers to arrange a finals match in the league sponsored by Cherifer Growth Vitamins.

The Alphonsian Eagles routed the CIC Blue Angels, CIC team, 10-6  while PCGS edged the SIPS Tamaraws, 7-6.

10-UNDER

The two SPLC Paladins meanwhile, made it a sibling battle for the crown after beating the younger Tamaraws, 4-2, and the last team from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. /pr
