Gov’t workers get free MRT, LRT ride on Sept. 19

MANILA, Philippines — Government employees will be treated to a free ride at LRT Lines 1 and 2, and MRT Line 3 Thursday in celebration of the 113th Civil Service Anniversary.

The Philippine Information Agency announced that free rides to government employees would be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and from  7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Light Rail Transit, based on Civil Service Commission Announcement no. 48, series 2013.

Employees will be required to present their valid ID and log-in at the station’s service gate before getting a boarding pass, later to be surrendered at their destination.

Exiting beyond the mentioned time limit “will subject the passenger to the penalty for lost ticket in exit and shall be asked to pay the fare from entry to end of the line,” the statement said.
