SWU smashers bag 3 titles

SMASHERS from the Southwestern University (SWU) won three titles in the secondary competition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) badminton tournament yesterday at the Metrosports Badminton Courts.

The Cobras reigned in both the boys and girls doubles competition and the girls singles B to emerge on top.

The University of San Carlos (USC) won the boys and girls singles A division while the University of Cebu (UC) topped the boys singles B.

The Cobras’ James Villarante and Ryan Doromal edged Chester Aguila and Jude Pangilinan of USC to top the boys doubles event.

SWU’s Jhunna Francisco and Elloise Canillo nipped UC’s Clarice Espina and Shemae Cabaluna to win the girls doubles competition. Hannah Tudtud, meanwhile, topped the girls singles B division after winning over Mary Camello of UC.

In the men’s tertiary singles competition, John Bergantin of the University of Visayas (UV) claimed the title this year after he won over Kint Bacong of Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU).

Archangelo Ouano of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) topped the men’s singles B division after beating USC’s Norbert Abutan-mo. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
