Loberanis to vie in Milo run

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos’ (USC) ace runner Mary Joy Loberanis will be competing in the three-kilometer race of the upcoming Cebu leg of the 37th Milo Marathon slated Sept. 22 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Mary Joy’s father, Arvin Loberanis, confirmed her attendance in the  annual race.

The 11-year old Loberanis of the USC Basic Education Department is expected to be the one of the strong contenders in the 3k race along with other young runners from Cebu City.

She recently hauled five gold medals to help USC-BED rule the elementary division in the recent 18th Milo Little Olympics. She won gold medals in the 400-meter, 800m and 1,500m runs and was part of the teams that won the 4x100m and 4x400m relay competitions. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
