Two men electrocuted in Lapu-Lapu

TWO laborers were electrocuted while repairing a deep well in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, last Thursday afternoon.

Ricardo Senarlo, 35, and Llemet Talara, 49, died on the spot. Two other workers, Mark Pagador, 21, and Eliezer Jubay, sustained burns in their bodies.

The victims were neighbors in the barangay.

Police said the four men were asked to repair a deep well used by residents in the area.

The accident occurred when the pipe that the four men pulled from the ground cracked and touched a live wire owned by the Mactan Electric Cooperative, said SPO1 Manolito Abellanosa, homicide investigator of the Lapu-Lapu Police Office.

The tip of the pipe reached about 30 feet high when it cracked, said police.

A 17-year-old boy who helped repair the well was unhurt as he was holding on a rope tied to the pipe.

The wounded persons were brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City. CORRESPONDENTS JHUNNEX NAPALLACAN AND NORMAN V. MENDOZA
