TRIKE DRIVER DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A 40-year-old man died when a passenger bus hit the tricycle he was driving in barangay Argawanon, San Remigio town, northern Cebu Tuesday afternoon.

Rodulfo Banzon Jr. suffered head injuries. His two passengers Kristel Felix, 32, and Jennelyn Demiar, 22 survived the accident but sustained minor injuries.

Dolpe Cuambot, 36, driver of the Metro Cebu Autobus, was arrested after the incident.

Police said Cuambot tried to overtake another vehicle when he hit the tricycle.

The bus was bound for Bogo City.

Rodulfo was brought to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City but did not make it alive.

Rodulfo is survived by his wife and four children. Rodulfo’s wife Narisa yesterday filed a complaint against Cuambot for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

“I’m really worried on how I will continue to support my children since my husband was the breadwinner of our family,” Narisa said in Cebuano.

Alfonso Corominas, owner of the Metro Cebu Autobus Corp., said P100,000 in financial assistance will be given to the victim’s family.

BOY SHOT DEAD IN ERMITA

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy previously jailed for robbery charges was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Ermita, Cebu City early morning yesterday.

The boy was released from jail a month ago. No one came forward to narrate what happened, said SPO4 Jesus Moga.

Moga said revenge could be the motive of the attack.

Police said the boy was found in a pathway with gunshot wounds in the right arm and body. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

MAN ELECTROCUTED

A PHYSICALLY challenged man was electrocuted in the middle of a heavy downpour yesterday afternoon in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

The victim was identified only as a certain Allan. According to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Allan, who was in crutches, leaned on an electrical wire when he was electrocuted.

A portion of the wire had been peeled off which may have caused the electrocution.

The victim was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center where he later died.  /CORRESPONDENT CHRISTINE EMILY L. PANTALEON
