Three councilors have come up with a resolution which will allow Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista to enter into a P66-million contract with private firms for the purchase of Christmas gifts that will be distributed to indigent residents.

Council majority floor leader Bong Suntay and Councilors Godofredo Liban III and Eufemio Lagumbay asked the other councilors to approve their proposal that will pave the way for the purchase of P66,468,750 worth of holiday giveaways for the city’s poor families.

According to them, the resolution was prompted by a request from the Office of the City Mayor in connection with the city government’s annual “Pamaskong Handog” or Christmas gift-giving activity.

The councilors noted that there was already an approved allocation for the project in the city’s annual budget.

They asked that should the council resolution be approved, a copy be furnished to the city budget and accounting departments, the Commission on Audit field office in Quezon City and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
