Teenager needs money for chemo

At age 13, Pamela Urtal’s only concern should be her studies. Acute leukemia, however, has forced her to drop out of the sixth grade.

Doctors have advised the teenager who lives in Plaridel, Bulacan, with her parents to undergo one year of chemotherapy.

In a recent letter to the Inquirer, Pamela expressed her wish “to overcome this sickness so I can continue with my studies.”

Evangeline said that so far, her daughter has undergone six months of chemotherapy. Her treatment, however, has left her family owing several friends and neighbors a total of P83,000.

With her husband, Noel, a truck driver, being the sole breadwinner in the family, Evangeline appealed for help from Inquirer readers to enable her daughter to continue seeking treatment.

According to her, they need P30,000 for Pamela’s weekly chemotherapy sessions at La Consolacion University General Hospital which will last until January next year.
