‘Mrs. B’ restaged Aug. 30
To mark the International Day of the Disappeared on Aug. 30, the Free Jonas Burgos Movement, Desaparecidos and the Concerned Artists of the Philippines, with the support of The Asia Foundation, brings back to the stage on Aug. 30 “Mrs. B,” a one-act monologue.
Veteran actresses Bibeth Orteza and Malou de Guzman will play alternately the role of Edita Tronqued Burgos, a secular Carmelite, educator for 18 years, wife of the late press freedom fighter Jose G. Burgos Jr. and mother of Jonas Burgos, farmer-activist who was abducted on April 28, 2007.
The play deals with the gamut of emotions a mother goes through in searching of a missing son. It was conceptualized and directed by Soc Jose and written by Joi Barrios, together with Rowena Festin and Grundy Constantino.
The play will be staged at the Aldaba Hall of the University of the Philippines in Quezon City. De Guzman will star in the 3 p.m. show while Orteza will star in the 7 p.m. performance. Tickets at P250 can be reserved through Babes Alejo (09208818856) and Peachy Burgos (09279106680).
