MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City police investigators believe that a missing cell phone could be key to identifying the man who shot dead on Saturday morning a barangay (village) watchman.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit observed that among the belongings of Woody Araño, 38, a peace and security officer of Barangay San Bartolome in Novaliches, only the phone was taken by the shooter who happened to be the victim’s motorcycle passenger.
SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga, case investigator, said the killing happened at 7 a.m. Saturday on Masaya Street in Novaliches where Araño dropped off a still unidentified companion on his motorcycle who later shot him in the head.
Zaldarriaga said the victim’s family told him that he had been getting death threats on his cell phone.
