Repair work on Edsa to start Friday night

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Public Works and Highways on Friday advised motorists passing through Edsa to look for alternative routes as portions of the thoroughfare will undergo repair over the weekend.

DPWH National Capital Region director Reynaldo Tagudando said concrete reblocking and repair activities will affect at least three sections of Edsa.

He said repair works at the Monumento area in Caloocan City, particularly on the fifth lane southbound direction of Edsa Monumento Circle and along the Edsa northbound lane from McDonald’s to Monumento Circle area, were to begin Friday night.

The fourth lane northbound direction of Edsa in Quezon City from SM North Annex to Muñoz MRT station is also scheduled to undergo repair work.

To improve travel condition, DPWH will also undertake reblocking work  on the northbound lane of Araneta Avenue, from Bayani Street to Kapiligan Street in Quezon City.

The DPWH said that road repair on Edsa and Araneta Avenue will be completed and the streets re-open to full vehicular traffic on or before 5 a.m. of Monday, September 9.

“The new concrete pavement will result in longer road performance to outweigh the temporary inconvenience to travelling public during the repair works period,” it said, adding that it had obtained clearance from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the road repair activities.
