Doc Salcedo, Lucky 9 to dispute Labba hoop title

THE Doc Salcedo team beat Siomai of Edwin Nadal, 84-76, last Sunday to advance to the championship game of the 2013 Lagtang Balik Basketball Association (LABBA) 2nd Conference basketball tournament at the Tabunok Sports Complex.

Doc Salcedo will face powerhouse Lucky 9 in the winner-take-all final this Sunday.

Doc Salcedo led 22-16 in the first quarter then posted its biggest advantage of 17 points, 55-38 at the half before repeatedly repulsing Siomai’s rallies in the second half.

Rickboy Nacario led Doc Salcedo with 28 points while Ogie Baltazar and Marlon Nadal paced Siomai with 28 and 18 points, respectively.

Donkoy Napoles on the other hand, fired a game-high 33 points for Lucky 9 while Larry Bentic and Derik Cuizon added 19 and 17, respectively.

Diether Zapanta and Boyet Rabago paced the Car Dealers with 15 and 13 points while and Selyo Tapio added 10 markers.

The event is made possible through the efforts of the 2013 set of LABBA officers headed by Jumie “El Presidente” Tabay, his working staff Edwin Nadal and Wilson Pacaña and major sponsor Epoy Caballero.
