Bomb threat disrupts classes in Caloocan school

/ 11:36 PM September 03, 2013

Classes at Pangarap Elementary School in Pangarap Village, Caloocan City, were disrupted on Tuesday by a bomb threat. Morning classes were cancelled after the school principal, Rustica Lorenzo, said she received a text message warning of a bomb planted on the school grounds at 5:40 a.m. “The text message came from a number not registered in my cell phone,” Lorenzo said in a phone interview. She immediately called the police and her teachers to report the incident. Students who arrived early for the 6 a.m. class were prevented from entering the school and herded into a nearby covered court. “However, when the parents found out about the threat, they panicked and decided to take their children back home for their safety,” Lorenzo said. A bomb squad and Special Weapons and Tactics team from the Caloocan City Police combed through the school but they found no bomb, prompting school officials to push through with the afternoon classes.
