Shows, trade fair kick off Caloocan Tourism Month

Fashion shows, exhibits, competitions and trade shows are just some of the events that people can expect in Caloocan City as it celebrates Tourism Month this September.

In a statement, the city government said it has come up with several programs to further promote tourism in the city.

“We encourage everyone to come and join us in Caloocan. Our Cultural Affairs and Tourism Services has lined up various attractions, shows and trade fairs that will allow guests to experience what the city has to offer,” Mayor Oscar Malapitan said in a statement.

Highlights of the monthlong celebration include a fashion exhibit on traditional Filipino attires organized by city government employees which will be held on Sept. 27 at the Caloocan Main City Hall.

There will also be competitions, including an invitational dance showdown at the Bagong Silang Auditorium on Sept. 26 and the Mr. Tourism 2013 talent night at Glorietta Park in Tala, North Caloocan, on Sept. 23 followed by the coronation night on Sept. 25 at the main city hall.

The Caloocan Band composed of drums, lyre and brass instrument players will also be holding performances on Sept. 23, 24 and 26.

Bazaars and weekend markets will also be opened in different areas throughout the city featuring locally-made products at low prices.—Nathaniel R. Melican
