Lot donation, awarding caps Mandaue Charter anniversary fest
MANDAUE City ended its month-long celebration of its 44th Charter anniversary with a ceremonial switching of the city’s new traffic lights yesterday.
Mayor Jonas Cortes switched on the lights and signed the deed of donation of a 2,000 square meter lot located a the back of the Mandaue Hall of Justice in favor of the Supreme Court.
The donation was accepted by Supreme Court associate Justice Jose Perez and Supreme Court Administrator Midas Marquez.
A foot parade within Barangay Centro followed at 3 p.m. before the Mass at the St. Joseph National Shrine. The food festival and trade fair wrapped up at the Plaza grounds last Thursday.
An awards night was held at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex the following day.
In a speech, mayor Cortes thanked city government employees for working with him in serving the city’s residents. “I would again ask for your partnership and every Mandauehanon to be one with me towards development and prosperity,” he said.

Among the awardees were Dante Infante of Mandaue City Science High School who received the outstanding public high school teacher award and Ruth Selpher Acapulco as outstanding public elementary school teacher.
