Today, August 26, is the 103rd birth anniversary of the first Filipino cardinal, Rufino Cardinal Santos. Although considered underage, he was ordained as priest at the age of 23 after getting a special dispensation from the Pope at the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome on Oct. 25, 1931. The founder of Caritas Manila, Santos passed away on Sept. 3, 1973.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
